The Nine-Hole Women’s Golf Association (NHWGA) is a group that promotes active participation in golf along with the sociability of members and their guests. Knowledge of golf rules is encouraged. Some join our group simply because they prefer to play only nine holes so that time can devoted to other activities. A USGA handicap index of 24.9 or less is required for membership. Our Pro Shop can assist you in establishing your handicap.
Our season begins May 1 and ends April 30. NHWGA play day is Thursday. Typically, May through October play is in the morning and November through April play is afternoon shotgun. We have a number of Special Events which occur October through April such as Halloween Mixer, Santa Surprise, Valentine Mixer, Member/Guest, NHWGA Championship, Breast Health Day and Bye Bye Snowbirds. In addition, the NHWGA is one of the twelve clubs throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties that participant in the Manasota Nine Hole Interclub Association.
Applications for membership may be obtained from the Pro Shop. The Pro Shop will put you in contact with the current membership chair. The membership chair will provide information on qualifying for our group and introduce you to other NHWGA members. Once joining, members will received a handbook that provides names of officers, committee chairs, our By-Laws, Rules, special events, calendar of weekly events, and our members. If you qualify for membership and pay dues before July of a current season, the information you provide will be printed in this handbook. Those qualifying after printing will be included in the following season’s handbook.
If you are a current member of the Palm Aire 18-Hole WGA all other qualifying is waived. Membership chair will provide information on paying dues.
If you have an established handicap, using USGA method, of 24.9 or less for 9 holes, from this club or any other club, all other qualifying is waived. Membership chair will provide information on paying dues.
If you do not have an established handicap, you should contact the Pro Shop. You will be informed that you must post at least ten (10) 9-Hole scores in the computer. You may need to post more than 10 scores to achieve the 24.9 handicap index. During this time, the membership chair can be of assistance by introducing you to NHWGA members.
